Giant Balloons and Five Alarm Funk

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

Giant balloons can be used to serve a vast array applications.

Maybe it was the Rolling Stones, I’m not sure, who began using giant balloons in their concerts. Whatever band it was really started something. We now have everything from giant flaming lips balloons to flying pigs to huge sphere balloons floating on stages.

A great example of this was reported at VernonMorningstar.com and the use of giant balloons this past week by the band Five Alarm Funk in their concert.

The balloons add a whole different dimension to concerts and helps involve the audience in the production. The audience can begin to gel as an entity onto its own.

Watch for more integration of giant balloons into concerts and stage productions as producers see the benefit that can occur from such simple devices as giant balloons.

Giant Balloons In – Aliens Out

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

Giant balloons are on the way in to New Mexico and Aliens are on the way out. According to the New Mexico Business Weekly a new advertising campaign by M&C Saatchi for the New Mexico Tourism Department is sending the Aliens back to outer space and floating in giant balloons.

M&C Saatchi beat out 15 other firms for the $2.7 million advertising and marketing contract with the New Mexico Tourism Department.

Balloons, especially hot-air balloons, have been associated with New Mexico for years and this is a natural take-off on that relationship. Each year Albuquerque hosts the largest hot-air balloon festival in the world. Visitors and balloonists from around the world come to take part in or observe the balloon festival. Hundreds of giant balloons take part in this extravaganza and it generates thousands if not millions of dollars in free publicity for the state and millions of dollars are pumped into the New Mexico economy.

Great work by M&C Saatchi to harness this natural connection.
